Flash-free photography is permitted at the Boston Athenaeum with certain restrictions. Tripods and selfie-sticks however, are not permitted. 

Cellphones are permitted in the Boston Athenaeum. Users can use their cell phones provided they are on silent and the user is not speaking into the phone. If you need to take a phone call, you can do so in the vestibule or in the phone booths that are located on the first floor near the restrooms.
