About This Event

Borboleta is prepping the release of their debut project, UNTIL THAT TIME. To date, Borboleta has only released singles and has been working on releasing the right project for years to introduce Borboleta and bring their ideas to life. When not singing as Borboleta, they are known as Rochelle Leach, a Cape Verdian born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. Rochelle uses Borboleta as a way to actualize their dreams, creating a world for themself to get through and talk through things. \ \ UNTIL THAT TIME is a time capsule of very eternal feelings in Borboleta’s life. The project was started when Borboleta was 18 when they were first transitioning into adulthood and trying to juggle growing up, school, work, and falling in love. The songs on the EP reflect those feelings and writing the songs felt cathartic and powerful as they tried to keep a grip on life during this transition. The EP ranges from sounds of neo-soul, R&B, jazz, and pop, but Borboleta thinks that pop describes it perfectly because \'pop is not a defined genre, it\'s what people like.\' Borboleta\'s inspirations include Frank Ocean, Kari Faux, Missy Elliot, classic rock, Black spiritual jazz from the 60s and 70s, and feel good music in general.
